Vagical is a drug used in gynecology to treat inflammatory diseases of the vagina. The drug is based on the extract of calendula (Calendula officinalis), known for its anti-inflammatory and healing properties.

During the period of increased risk of diseases of the intimate area in women, taking care of their health is extremely important, especially as a prevention and in the early stages of infection. Vagical was developed based on this idea. The drug owes its effectiveness to the wealth of beneficial substances contained in the tincture of calendula officinalis (Latin Calendula officinalis L.). The use of these compounds is the answer to common intimate problems of women.

Vagical is the only vaginal drug that contains primary tincture of calendula (150 mg) with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Calendula officinalis (marigold) contains flavonoids, saponins, carotenoids, triterpene alcohols. Their pharmacological action is mutually complementary and provides an anti-inflammatory effect, accelerates the granulation and epithelialization process, has a fungistatic and cytotoxic effect, and also has a protective, antibiotic and immunostimulating effect.

Composition of Vagical:

• Calendula o cinalis (marigold) 150 mg.

Calendula officinalis (marigold) contains flavonoids, saponins, carotenoids, triterpene alcohols. Their pharmacological action is mutually complementary and provides an anti-inflammatory effect, accelerates the granulation and epithelialization process, has a fungistatic and cytotoxic effect, and also has a protective, antibiotic and immunostimulating effect.

Indications for the use of Vagical:

inflammatory diseases of the vagina, accompanied by discharge, itching, burning, redness as an adjuvant for cervical erosion.

Method of application and dosage:

Suppositories are used intravaginally 2-3 times a day. Before use, the suppository should be moistened with chilled water.

The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor individually. If within 3-4 days after the start of treatment the symptoms do not disappear or there is a deterioration in the condition, it is necessary to consult a doctor.

Children: do not use.

Given that there is insufficient data on the use of Vagical during pregnancy and breastfeeding, a clinical study was conducted on the topic:

“Effectiveness of Vagical in the treatment of bacterial vaginosis in pregnant women”

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of treating bacterial infections (vaginosis) in pregnant women using Vagical vaginal suppositories.

94 pregnant women participated in the study:

• 37 women diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis (BV) received Vagical suppositories.
• 27 women diagnosed with BV refused treatment.
• The control group included 30 pregnant women with normal vaginal smears.

Vaginal suppositories were used twice a day for 5 days during 16-18 weeks of pregnancy. Infections were diagnosed in the first trimester of pregnancy according to the Nugent criteria.

It was shown that vaginal suppositories have a pronounced antibacterial effect, stimulate immunity during treatment and significantly reduce the incidence of obstetric complications in newborns. Local use of vaginal suppositories increased the effectiveness of the treatment of bacterial vaginosis during pregnancy, improved immunity, the condition of the vaginal epithelium and the results of perinatal examination compared to other groups. The obtained data were presented in the form of a graph.

Conclusion:

Vagikal is a safe drug. It has been present on the Polish pharmaceutical market since 2002, on the Ukrainian market since 2010. During this period, no reports of side effects have been registered.
